The nomadic Oomingmak roam most of the Ursanami ridges, constantly in search of the ever rare food, particularly the plant known as willow moss. They also hunt for mammoth to use in the creation of their ushming and to feed their polda and dogs. In addition, the peaceful Oomingmak are relatively left alone, though they are sometimes hunted for their fur, called qiviut wool by less scrupulous Tornagh nobles.

Standing at 7 foot tall, the anthropomorphic muskox are imposing, particularly with their bodies weighing in upwards of 600 pounds. The hooves on their feet are designed not to sink in the snow so far, up to 8 inches at most. They wear simple mammoth skin kilts and shawls, which they paint using crushed flowers found in the Himdal Hills. Their fur is often brown, but can range in shades of tan, white, and gray or any combination therein. Their chin fur is often braided and dyed, with women also using beads, stones, and gems.

Oomingmak tend to travel in herds, sometimes in groups as large as 150 members. Herds often meet in their travels to exchange news, supplies, polda, dogs, and young. The exchange of young is part of a complex ritual known as tukarik qavikt. This exchange ensures a continuance of each tribe and strong bloodlines, and keeps the spirituality of Kol unified.

Oomingmak have trading agreements with the Ursanami Centaur, and more recently, the Tuusst. Though few herds are willing to approach Tuusst settlements, a few individuals have decided to leave the nomadic life in favor of finding a place among the humans.

Size: Medium

Speed: 30 feet (6 squares)

Powerful Build: The physical stature of the Oomingmak allows them to function in many ways as if they were one size category larger. Oomingmak are also considered one size larger for the determination of a creature’s special attacks (such as improved grab or swallow whole). Oomingmak can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty. However, their space and reach remain those of creatures their actual size. Then benefits of this racial trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities and spells which change a subject’s size category.
